Workshops
Offered at All Locations · Hands-on Cultural Learning
Our workshops invite participants to learn through making, reflecting, and engaging directly with teachings connected to land, culture, and community.
Each offering blends storytelling with hands-on practice, offering space to create while deepening understanding of place, relationships, and responsibility.
Whether your group is seeking artistic exploration, land-based teachings, or cultural knowledge shared with care, our workshop team adapts each experience to honour your learners, your goals, and the lands we gather on.
What to Expect
Workshops are immersive, guided, and paced for learners of all ages. Each session includes:
Cultural context and teachings related to the workshop practice
Hands-on creation supported by our Indigenous facilitators
Opportunities for reflection, dialogue, and connection
All required workshop materials provided
Adaptation for age, ability, learning style, and group size
Workshops can be delivered as standalone experiences or paired with our walking tours to create full-day or multi-day learning journeys.
Roots & Remedies - Indigenous Tea Blending
Explore plant knowledge, harvesting teachings, and the cultural significance of teas as medicine and relationship. Participants learn about several Indigenous plants, their uses, and respectful practices before blending their own take-home tea.
This workshop can be adapted for scientific, cultural, or wellness-based learning outcomes.
Spirit of the Coast - Painting Workshop
A creative session grounded in land-based observation and Indigenous design principles. Participants experiment with colour, form, and pattern, guided by teachings about place, identity, and visual storytelling. This workshop supports both artistic skill-building and cultural learning.
Impressions of the Land - Printmaking Workshop
Participants learn the basics of lino block printing using imagery inspired by land, symbols, and natural forms. This workshop is accessible for beginners while offering depth for more advanced artists. Each participant creates prints they can take home or contribute to a collaborative group piece.
Salt & Cedar - Bath Bomb Workshop
A sensory, plant-based workshop using natural ingredients and botanical teachings. Participants blend their own bath bombs while learning about traditional plant knowledge, harvesting ethics, and the wellness practices embedded in Indigenous cultures. A good option for younger learners, team-building, and wellness programming.
Panel Presentations & Custom Workshops
Looking for something beyond our standard offerings?
We provide panel-style presentations featuring multiple Indigenous facilitators sharing perspectives connected to land stewardship, cultural teachings, and the themes present in our tours.
We also build custom workshops in collaboration with educators, organizations, and community groups. If your program includes specific learning outcomes, curricular goals, or cultural themes, our team can co-design an experience that aligns with your needs while upholding cultural integrity.
Where We Meet & Location Options
Workshops require table space, shelter, and materials setup, so meeting locations differ from our walking tours. Sessions can be hosted:
In indoor workshop-friendly spaces such as community rooms, classrooms, art studios, or meeting halls
In covered outdoor areas (spring–fall), depending on site permissions and weather
In select outdoor park locations that allow material-based programming (permits or rental fees may apply)
Workshops can be delivered at:
Pre-approved Talaysay Tours workshop locations across Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, and the Sea-to-Sky corridor
School or organizational facilities
Custom location requests, pending suitability, accessibility, and permitting
Final locations are confirmed during the planning process. Some indoor and outdoor venues may require additional rental or permit fees, which we outline during booking.
