Our

to Safety

At the Talaysay Paddle Centre, we believe that safety is an act of respect, for the land, for each other, and for the communities we serve. Every journey begins with care.

What to Know Before You Paddle

Waivers

  • All guests must sign a waiver before participating in any rental or guided experience.

  • Waivers are sent upon booking and must be completed before arrival.

Life Jackets (PFDs)

  • Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are mandatory at all times while on the water.

  • We provide properly fitted PFDs for all guests.

Age & Guardian Policy

  • Guests 12+ can paddle independently.

  • Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Equipment Use

  • All gear must be returned in the condition it was received.

  • Guests are liable for any damage to kayaks, canoes, SUPs, paddles, or safety kits.

Weather & Water Conditions

  • All bookings are subject to cancellation due to unsafe weather, water conditions, or emergency advisories.

  • We’ll communicate any changes as early as possible and work with you to reschedule.

Safety on the Water

Before you launch:

  • Check weather, wind, and tide conditions — they change fast on the coast.

  • Wear your PFD (Personal Flotation Device) at all times.

  • Bring drinking water, sun protection, and a dry bag for your essentials.

While paddling:

  • Stay close to shore unless experienced in open water.

  • Paddle with a buddy or group whenever possible.

  • Yield to larger vessels and stay visible.

Our guides monitor conditions throughout your experience. If weather turns, we adjust routes or return to shore early.

Gear Use & Responsibility

Each guest is provided with:

  • A properly fitted PFD

  • Paddle(s)

  • Safety kit (whistle, bailer, rope)

  • Dry bag (if needed)

You are responsible for the care of the gear you rent. Please treat it with respect — damage caused by negligence may incur replacement costs.

Group Safety & Supervision

Guidelines for youth:

  • Youth under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • One adult is required per minor for SUP and kayak rentals.

  • Multi-day or open water paddles may require additional approval or guide escort.

For group tours, we assign Cultural Land Ambassadors to support the entire journey — including land-based teaching, safety instruction, and check-ins.

Weather & Conditions Policy

Tours and rentals may be rescheduled or cancelled if:

  • Wind exceeds safe paddling limits

  • Thunderstorms, fog, or heavy swells are expected

  • Conditions change rapidly on-site

We do our best to notify guests in advance. Your safety is our priority — if we need to adjust, we will always offer options.

Emergencies & First Aid

All guides are trained in:

  • Basic First Aid & CPR

  • Emergency communication protocols

  • Evacuation plans for our tour locations

If you experience an injury, discomfort, or distress — please tell your guide immediately.

Waivers & Agreements

A waiver must be signed by each participant before departure. This will be sent to you upon booking. It covers:

  • Acknowledgement of personal responsibility

  • Assumption of risk

  • Agreement to follow safety protocols

No signed waiver = no participation. We take this seriously.
