May 3 - Land Stewardship Day: Ivy Removal

  • Porpoise Bay Provincial Park 6428 Marmot Road Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A4 Canada (map)

🌿 Land Stewardship Day: Ivy Removal
Inspired by the work of Dr. Jennifer Grenz

Join us for a meaningful community gathering in the spirit of reciprocity, restoration, and care for the land as we return to the ancestral village site of Klaalth for another Ivy Removal Day.

Together, we will help remove invasive ivy from trees and forest floor areas in order to support the health of this place and the living beings rooted within it. Ivy can smother native trees, suppress understory growth, and disrupt the balance of forest ecosystems. By carefully clearing it away, we make space for light, breath, and renewal.

Inspired by the teachings shared in Medicine Wheel for the Planet by Dr. Jennifer Grenz, this gathering is an invitation to move from learning into action, and from appreciation into stewardship.

This is more than a work party. It is an act of land-based care, community connection, and honouring an ancestral place through collective effort. We will close with light snacks and time to reflect together on what has been tended.
