Ages: 12+
Capacity: 15 participants

Step softly into the forest and let the land welcome you.
This guided Forest Therapy Walk is a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and be present with nature and with self. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing), this experience invites you into quiet moments of connection—through your senses, through stillness, and through the medicine of the natural world.
Together, we will move with intention along a peaceful trail, pausing often to listen, feel, and simply be. This is not an Indigenous cultural tour or storytelling experience, but it is rooted in the spirit of land-based healing. All are welcome to come as they are and reconnect with the Earth in a way that nourishes body, mind, and heart.
🌿 Please note: We strive to create a scent-free environment to support deep sensory connection and honour those with allergies or sensitivities.
This is a community offering, open to individuals aged 12 and up. Youth must be accompanied by a guardian.
✨ This session is offered with gratitude and support from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, and guided by a certified Forest Therapy Guide with Talaysay Tours.

Beavers, Birds & Bannock: Community Event
🌿 Beavers, Birds & Bannock
Date: Friday, May 10, 2025
Time: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Check-in: 5:15 PM
Location: Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park, Halfmoon Bay
Hosted by: Talaysay Tours Cultural Ambassadors & Sunshine Coast Community Forest
Capacity: 25 Guests
Cost: Complimentary Community Event
Step into the forest at golden hour and journey through one of the most ecologically rich areas on the Sunshine Coast. Beavers, Birds & Bannock is a special three-hour guided Indigenous walking experience that follows a moderately-paced trail through forest, wetland, and shoreline; part walk, part hike, and all heart.
With each step, your Indigenous Cultural Ambassadors will share land-based knowledge passed down through generations; teachings of the cedar, yew, camas, and death camas, and the ways these plants have been used for medicine, food, tools, and ceremony. You’ll learn to see the forest not as scenery, but as kin; full of relationships and responsibilities.
As dusk settles in, we quietly approach the beaver ponds, where with patience and presence, we may be gifted with a rare and sacred sight: beavers swimming, grooming, and tending to their lodges. These shy, intelligent engineers shape the entire ecosystem with their presence; and, when they choose to show themselves, it is an honour. We ask that all participants hold a quiet and respectful space during this time.
The tour ends with warm bannock shared by the sea, a chance to reflect together by the water’s edge to the sounds of gulls and waves. We’ll share stories of the land’s transformation; from ancient trade routes to the colonial fur trade, and consider how we move forward in a good way with the land and each other.
✨ This session is offered with gratitude and support from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, and guided by Cultural Land Ambassadors with Talaysay Tours.
🔸 This tour is approximately 3 hours and includes some uneven ground and gentle inclines. Please come prepared with good footwear and water.
