Salish Sea & Me - Friendship Park

Join us for a complimentary community shoreline walk in Sechelt, offered as part of the Sechelt Arts Festival. Guided by xets’emits’a. Candace Campo, this experience invites us into a deeper relationship with the Salish Sea through Coast Salish stories, teachings, and reflections on the enduring connections between ocean, land, people, and place.

Salish Sea & Me is a complimentary community shoreline walk rooted in relationship, reflection, and connection to the coast.

Offered as part of the Sechelt Arts Festival, this guided experience invites guests to walk along the shoreline of ch’atlich while exploring the enduring relationship between Coast Salish peoples and the Salish Sea.

Through stories, observation, and reflection, participants are invited to consider the many life-giving resources the ocean has provided since time immemorial and the deep connections between ocean, land, people, and place.

Guided by xets’emits’a. Candace Campo, this is an opportunity to gather in community, walk with care, and deepen your understanding of the living relationships held within the Salish Sea.

What to Expect

Salish Sea & Me is a shoreline walking experience grounded in Coast Salish perspectives, reflection, and relationship to the coast.

Where We Meet

We gather in Sechelt at the pier at Friendship Park, along the shoreline of ch’atlich.

From there, we begin a gentle shoreline walk, grounding the experience in Coast Salish stories, teachings, and reflection on the relationships between ocean, land, people, and place.

Accessibility & Arrival

This experience is wheelchair friendly and begins and ends at Friendship Park.

Guests should come prepared for an outdoor community shoreline walking experience. The route follows the shoreline from Friendship Park, with opportunities to pause, observe, and connect with the surrounding coastal environment.

Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can begin the experience together and on time.
