Join us for a complimentary community shoreline walk at Porpoise Bay, offered in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Community Forest. Through story, observation, and coastal exploration, Salish Sea & Me invites you to reflect on the relationships between ocean, land, and community through Coast Salish perspectives.
Salish Sea & Me is a complimentary community shoreline walk rooted in relationship, reflection, and coastal learning.
Offered in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, this guided experience invites guests to explore Porpoise Bay through Coast Salish perspectives on ocean stewardship, intertidal life, and the deep relationships between land and water.
Through story, observation, and quiet reflection, participants are invited to consider how shorelines hold knowledge; and how marine ecosystems, community wellbeing, and cultural continuity are deeply connected.
This is an opportunity to move with the rhythms of the coast, learn from the living shoreline, and leave with a deeper sense of connection, respect, and place.
What to Expect
Salish Sea & Me is a calm, immersive shoreline experience that blends cultural teaching, ecological awareness, and sensory observation.
Guided teachings on Coast Salish relationships with the ocean and coastal ecosystems
Exploration of seaweeds, shells, marine life, and intertidal environments
Stories of stewardship, sustainable harvesting, and Indigenous science
A gentle walking pace with time to observe, reflect, and engage with the shoreline

Where We Meet
We gather at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park, where forest meets shoreline along the edge of Sechelt Inlet.
Our meeting point is near the interpretive sign and playground, just steps from the main parking area. From there, we begin a gentle walk along the beach and coastal edges.
When conditions allow, we explore the intertidal zone with care, observing the relationships that exist between land, water, and all living beings.

Accessibility & Arrival
Parking is available near the meeting area, with public washrooms located close by.
The walking route follows mostly flat and even terrain, with some areas of sand, grass, driftwood, and small rocks that may present minor challenges for wheelchairs or mobility aids.

Please arrive 15 minutes early and meet your guide beside the interpretive sign and playground near the beach.
